General information about applying for master's degree programmes
There are two different application routes at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The correct application route depends on your previous educational qualifications. Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has applications from prospective students applying for a degree programme who have obtained their university entrance qualification abroad reviewed by uni-assist. If you have already obtained a bachelor's degree in Germany, you can check for yourself here which application route is relevant.
Before submitting your application, please note the current degree programmes offered by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. If you have any questions about the content of your degree programme, please contact the Course Advisors in the faculty directly.
Note the following points when choosing your degree programme:
- Whether the desired subject is an admission-restricted (NC) or an admission-free (NC-free) degree programme
- Whether the subject is offered in the 1st semester or in a higher semester for the desired semester. Please note that the vast majority of degree programmes are only offered in the winter semester.
Please submit your complete application documents to uni-assist before the application deadline and in the form specified by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Your application can only be processed successfully if your documents meet all of the conditions set by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
- Register on the uni-assist application portal
- Log in to the uni-assist application portal with your user name and password
- Create an application in the application portal
- Select the following application semester and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin under "Semesters offered"
- Select the subject you wish to study and the semester you wish to study in
- Answer all questions in the application form
- Compile the required application documents
- If you click on "Proceed to checkout", you can pay the processing costs. It is important to ensure that payment is made within the application deadline.
Multiple applications
The uni-assist application process allows you to apply to several universities at the same time. When making multiple applications, please note that the application deadlines and conditions may differ from university to university.
Medical degree programmes
If you are interested in studying human medicine, dentistry, and bachelor's and master's degree programmes in the healthcare sector, please send your enquiry directly to the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin does not offer these degree programmes.
