Regulations for International Applicants

  • Bildungsinländer/innen ("educational nationals", i.e. international applicants in possession of a German school leaving certificate) and EU citizens are required to submit their application for course programmes with restrictions on admission at all German higher education institutions to the ZVS (Zentralstelle für die Vergabe von Studienplätzen).
  • Bildungsinländer/innen have basically the same status as German applicants in the application procedure.

  • As a rule, all international applicants, including EU citizens applying for any Humboldt course programme with restrictions on admission in the first or a more advanced semester, e.g. after a transfer from another university in Germany or abroad, must send their applications to Vorprüfstelle UNI-ASSIST at Humboldt-Universität.

  • Application forms and further information are available from the Zulassungsbüro für ausländische Studierende (Admissions Office) of Humboldt-Universität.

 

Deadlines for degree course applications:
  • For the Winter Semester: 15 July,
  • For the Summer Semester: 15 January.
Deadlines for access course (Studienkolleg) applications:
  • For the Winter Semester: 31 May (all courses),
  • For the Winter Semester: 15 April (requiring an external Feststellungsprüfung),
  • For the Summer Semester: 15 October (only M and T courses).

 
Information on all problems concerning the recognition of international certificates and higher education entrance qualifications is given by the Zulassungsbüro für ausländische Studierende.

 

The Abteilung Internationales (International Office) gives information on financing studies and questions arising from the status of international students at Humboldt-Universität.

 

Counselling on the structure and content of course programmes and the organization of studies is available from the Allgemeine Studienberatung (General Counselling Service).
