How to get Information concerning studies at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin:

Interested in studying at Humboldt-Universität? Here are the sources of information you will find useful:

  • The survey of courses offered at Humboldt (Studienangebot) is published on 1 June for Winter semester and 1 December for Summer semester every year. It includes the whole range of courses alongside with information about possible restrictions on admission to courses (NC=numerus clausus). If you click on the course you are interested in you'll find a more detailed course description (Studiengangsbeschreibung) with information about the combinability of courses, specific entrance requirements, the course structure, length and content of courses.
  • Besides, you'll find useful links explaining the criteria of admission and the NC-Grenzwerte.
  • It is certainly also very useful to check on the links on module descriptions and on Kommentiertes Vorlesungsverzeichnis (Annotated Course catalogue). There you can see which content components are dealt with in a particular course so that you can easily find out whether or not it is the right course for you.
  • At the end of the course description you will find a link to the Studienfachberatung, the Course Advisory Service, which you may contact to discuss more specific questions.
  • And perhaps you want to attend one of the lectures? Find out what is on offer in the Course catalogue and use the contacts to the lecturers listed there in order to obtain permission to participate.
  • Leaflets on frequently asked questions contain information on Bachelor and Master courses, teacher training, restrictions on admission, the beginning of the academic year, part-time studies, etc.

For those who intend to embark on a Master's course:

  • Please, have a look at the Studienangebot. Note that there are specific entrance requirements for the various courses. There will be information on the content of courses and on contacts for personal help if need be.
  • If, after all, you have not found the course you would like to embark on, you can check with the nation-wide university information service at www.higher-education-compass.de.
