Georgenstraße 47: Pergamon-Palais

Once the home of famous philosopher Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831), who taught at the nearby Berlin University as a professor and also became its rector in 1830, this building now houses research undertaken by Humboldt-Universität scientists and students.

A new building was constructed in the historic centre of Berlin on the corner of Am Kupfergraben and Georgenstraße, opposite the Pergamon and Bode Museums: the ‘Pergamon-Palais’, which blends in with the historical facades of Museum Island. The natural stone facade has been enhanced with soft glazing, and the entrance courtyard (which is open to the public) is also fully glazed.
