In November, Circle U. students met in Louvain-la-Neuve and simulated a meeting of EU environment ministers on the topic of ‘The EU at COP-30’. A visit to the European Commission in Brussels was another highlight of the seminar.

For the fourth time already, Circle U. Chairs Dr Claudia Matthes (HU) and Prof. Edoardo Traversa (UCLouvain) gathered with their students in Louvain-la-Neuve for a block seminar lasting several days. After a virtual kick-off meeting, the students worked in mixed teams on site to develop the positions of multiple EU member states for COP 30 and then simulated a meeting of environment ministers to refine the EU's position for the negotiations. Input from experts guided the group work, and a visit to the European Commission including a discussion with two expert speakers rounded off the activity.
