About the profession
If you enjoy designing, planning and organising events, calculating costs and managing commercial tasks, this is the right job for you. The training takes place primarily in the Event Management Department in the Communication, Marketing and Event Management Division, as well as in the Central University Sports Centre and in the Technical Department in the Event Technology Division or in Vocational Training. If you are looking for an apprenticeship in which you can develop both professionally and personally and contribute your own ideas, then you have come to the right place. You can quickly work on your own tasks and take on more and more responsibility over time.
Prerequisites
You have excellent communication and teamwork skills, very good written and spoken German, a good command of English, a strong organisational talent, a high level of commitment and a confident use of modern communication tools. You have previous experience of using a PC and MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PPT) and are proficient in modern office communication and information technology (e-mail, Internet). You are well organised, dynamic, flexible and outgoing. You enjoy working in a team, you have good manners and a constant willingness to learn is a matter of course for you. You have a secondary school leaving certificate. The apprenticeship is also suitable for high school graduates or university drop-outs.
Training content
Practice
Among other things, event managers are involved in
develop target group-orientated concepts for events,
inform, advise and support customers (by telephone, in writing, in person),
present concepts and results,
draw up and implement schedules and production plans,
calculate and assess event risks,
work together with artists, caterers and technicians,
welcome the registered guests on the evening of the event,
take into account technical event requirements and conditions and comply with event regulations,
work in an international environment using foreign languages,
use modern information and communication systems,
design organisational procedures and administrative processes,
process commercial business transactions, prepare contract documents and carry out calculations,
use methods of work planning and control.
Theory
The relevant vocational school is the Oberstufenzentrum Handel I.

Duration of training:3 years
Payment (according to TVA-L BBiG):
- in the 1st year of training € 1,236.82
- in the 2nd year of training € 1,290.96
- in the 3rd year of training € 1,340.61
Training time: 39 hours and 24 minutes per week
Holiday: 30 days per year
