IRTG 1792: High-Dimensional Non-Stationary Time Series Analysis
The training program will be run in close collaboration with the Wang Yanan Institute for Studies in Economics, Xiamen University, the first official "Econometrics Key Lab" in China. Berlin students will be trained together with Xiamen students, will be jointly supervised by both Berlin and Xiamen scholars and have to attend the Xiamen course program for at least one semester.
The IRTG is a joint initiative of Humboldt-Universität and Xiamen University, China. Starting in 2013, the IRTG will fund three cohorts of five to six 3-year scholarships. The doctoral students will be trained in the necessary statistical and mathematical foundations and can specialize in various advanced topics in statistics and econometrics. In their doctoral dissertation, they are supposed to focus on recent developments and corresponding applications in high-dimensional time series modeling and forecasting, dimension reduction techniques, covariance estimation and nonparametric analysis. The IRTG is a joint initiative of Humboldt-Universität and Xiamen University, China.

RTG 1939: Philosophy, Science and the Sciences. The dialogue among different forms and models in Ancient Greek, Roman and Arabic thought
This Research Training Group is devoted to the dialogue between different forms and models of knowledge in ancient Greek, Roman and Arabic philosophy and science. Special attention is given to the interface between philosophy and the special sciences, including both the explicit views of ancient thinkers about it and also their actual practice of dealing with the interface between philosophy and the special sciences. We consider it an innovative strength of the program to integrate these dimensions: both the theoretical reflection on the relationship of philosophy and science and the actual practice; both from the perspective of philosophy and from the perspective of special sciences.

IRTG 2290: Crossing Boundaries: Molecular Interactions in Malaria
Malaria is caused by single-celled parasites known as Plasmodium, which are transmitted by the bite of the Anopheles mosquito. Some basic principles of the progress of the disease and parasite-host interactions are still not understood. The German-Australian International Research Training Group “Crossing Boundaries: Molecular Interactions in Malaria” will therefore investigate the molecular mechanisms of Plasmodium infections as a basis for strategies to develop new drugs and immunisations for improved malaria treatment and prevention.

RTG 2386: Extrospektion: External Acces to Higher Cognitive Processes
Established findings for the science of inner experiences – psychology – are acquired through self-observation, in other words introspection, or through external observation, which is also referred to as extrospection. The latter has long been ignored. The RTG "Extrospection. External Access to Higher Cognitive Processes" seeks to investigate how external scientific access to higher cognitive processes can be achieved at the interface between philosophy, psychology, psychiatry and neurosciences.
