Project description
The statistician Hermann Otto Hirschfeld, born 1912 in Berlin, Spandau received his doctoral degree 1934 at the Humboldt-University Berlin. He left Germany and started an exemplary scientific career under the name H.O. Hartley. We owe Hermann Otto Hirschfeld the Pearson-Hartley Biometrika tables and innumerable research work concerning biometrics, multivariate statistics and the design of experiments. In agreement with his wife and his daughter and in appreciation of his great scientific earnings/services to the field of statistics, CASE organizes the Hermann Otto Hirschfeld Lecture in beginning of each winter semester.
