The Berlin Science Survey (BSS) is a scientific trend study on the transformation of scientific cultures in Berlin's research community, conducted by the Robert K. Merton Centre for Science Studies (RMZ) at Humboldt University in Berlin. The RMZ collects the experiences and assessments of scientists in an online survey at regular intervals. A new survey has been running since January 2026, which, in addition to universities and non-university research institutions, now also targets Berlin's universities of applied sciences. The focus is on knowledge transfer and the question of which tasks society should assign to science. The results will not only be evaluated for research purposes, but are also intended to enrich debates on science and higher education policy.
Participation in the BSS is still possible until the end of February. Scientists who have not yet received an invitation can contact the Berlin Science Survey team by email at: rmz-berlinsciencesurvey☞ Please insert an @ at this point ☜hu-berlin☞ Please insert a period at this pointde.
