Campus Card – Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

This page answers frequently asked questions about applying for, using and renewing the Campus Card for students at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

Note

Notifications of changes (e.g. loss or damage to your Campus Card) can no longer be submitted in paper form and will no longer be processed in this way. From 5 May, notifications will be submitted exclusively via the AGNES self-service portal. Further information on the changeover can be found here.

Frequently asked questions about the Campus Card

To create this
, you will need your personal QR code. You can find this in AGNES under the ‘Student ID’ menu item once you have logged in.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Print out the QR code or display it on your smartphone/tablet
  2. Scan the QR code at a card dispenser
  3. Create your Campus Card
  4. Then print the validity details at the card update machine

You must renew the validity every semester.

Once you have logged in to AGNES, you will find the QR code in the ‘Student ID’ section.

If you already have a Campus Card, you do not need a new QR code.
In this case, you simply need to renew your card in good time.

The Campus Card is not issued automatically.
You must create the card yourself at one of HU’s card issuance machines.

The machines are located at the following sites, amongst others:

  • Main Building, Unter den Linden 6 (1st and 2nd floors)
  • Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum (foyer)
  • Erwin Schrödinger Centre (foyer)

No. Neither the QR code nor the campus card can be sent by post.
They can only be generated in person at the machines.

Yes. You can appoint another person if you:

  • provide a printout of your QR code and
  • bear in mind that in this case, a photo card cannot be issued.

For cards without a photo, you must also carry official photo ID when using the card.

Yes. Unless you absolutely need your student ID card at the start of the semester, you can apply for your Campus Card at a later date.

Certificates of enrolment and study are no longer sent by post. Once you have registered
in AGNES, you can download them as PDF files from the ‘Certificates’ section.

The Campus Card also serves as:

  • Student ID card
  • Library card
  • Canteen card

The Germany Semester Ticket is no longer displayed on the Campus Card, but is provided exclusively in digital form. You can find further information in AGNES after logging in.
