Master Digital Curation (M.A.)

 

Goal:

The postgradute Master’s study programme „Digital Curation“ is offered by Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in cooperation with King’s College London. Students will gain core skills and information that they can use as a basis for decision-making in the continuously evolving fields of digital long term archiving and digital curation. These skills include computer science topics that cover technological aspects and that help students understand issues such as bitstream preservation, complex distributed systems, and how to access stored information.


The programme builds on information science, library science, and archival methods to select content for preservation, to assure its quality, to store it long term and to make it available for reuse. Students also learn to assess user needs. Special focus lies on humanities areas that involve cultural heritage.

  • digital long term archiving
  • digital information infrastructure
  • communication and knowledge management
  • selected aspects from areas such as web technologies, Big Data, digital publishing, digital marketing, and Semantic Web
  • Entry requirements
  • good or very good degree in Library and Information Science or related disciplines, or very good degree in other fields
  • very good command of English
